| CRITERIA
General
CAAWS will provide 12 grants in the amount of $900 each to
girls and women and/or organizations offering sport programs
targeted to girls and women who meet the grant criteria (see
below).
Grant Criteria
In order to be eligible for a WISE grant, applicants must
meet the following criteria and fit into one of the two categories:
Category: Coach/Official/Sport Administrator
You should apply for the WISE Fund in this category if you:
- are a female coach, official, sport administrator, volunteer,
teacher who is interacting with girls and women in a sport
AND/OR;
- have NCCP coaching certification or are in the process
of completing it AND/OR;
- have an affiliation with a provincial sport organization
(PSO)*, a national sport organization (NSO)*, or a multisport
service organization (MSO)* OR work/volunteer for a club/team
who is a member of a PSO/NSO/MSO*.
Category: Organization
You should apply for the WISE Fund in this category if you:
- are representing a club or team that has an affiliation
with a provincial or national sport organization (PSO/NSO)
AND/OR;
- are applying on behalf of a provincial sport organization
(PSO)*, a national sport organization (NSO)*, or a multisport
service organization (MSO)* who has a partnership affiliation
indirectly or directly with Sport Canada AND/OR;
- are a community-based or school sports group (e.g. a
club or team) AND/OR;
- are planning to use the WISE Fund grant for an initiative
(new or existing) intended to provide opportunities for
girls and women to participate in sport and/or to promote
sport to girls and women.
* A national sport organization (NSO) refers
to the national governing body of any specific sport.
Examples: Gymnastics – Gymnastics Canada; Synchronized
Swimming – Synchro Canada; Diving – Diving Canada;
Wheelchair Basketball – Canadian Wheelchair Basketball
Association; etc.
* A multisport service organization (MSO)
is an organization which oversees or provides services/programs
for various sports.
Examples: Canadian Paralympic Committee; Canadian
Deaf Sports Association; Coaching Association of Canada; etc.
* A provincial sport organization (PSO)
is an organization which is responsible for the regulation
of all areas and levels of their sport’s participation
within the province and for the governance of the province-wide
development of the sport.
Examples: Basketball – Basketball Ontario;
Athletics – Athletics Nova Scotia; Alpine Ski –
Alberta Alpine; etc.
Note: The WISE grant has been created to
help fund sport initiatives and assist members of the sport
community in Canada. Grant monies could be used for equipment,
league/team fees, promotion/marketing of a program/event that
is targeted to girls and women, professional development or
professional certification, a clinic or skills day, travel
for participation in a sporting event, etc. The WISE Fund
is not intended to help offset costs related to post-secondary
education, such as tuition fees, housing costs, etc. Due to
restrictions on the funding received from Sport Canada, the
WISE Fund is also not intended to support physical activity
or health-related projects and recreational initiatives.
